Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, has said the state will digitise public and school libraries as part of its effort to revive reading culture and make books accessible on mobile platforms,
Obaseki made the statement when he received the report of the Joint Implementation Team on Public and Secondary School Library System in Edo in Benin-City, on Tuesday
The governor said that in an era of technology, digitalised library services were needed to promote the reading culture and move pupils away from home videos.
The governor said that even government materials needed to be preserved through digitisation as it was difficult getting ready materials from past regimes, such as the Samuel Ogbemudia Midwest administration.
He gave an assurance that the state library services would be given a facelift through the provision of state-of -the art facilities, such as laptops, iPads and desktop computers.
