Against the backdrop of media reports which included Senator Jonah Jang among the lawmakers in the upper chamber of the National Assembly without a single bill to their names in the last two years, supporters of the Senator representing Plateau North have said the report which aims to tarnish the image of the former Governor will not succeed.
In their separate reactions to the report first published by Daily Trust newspapers, the supporters of the Senator who spoke with JAY FM in Jos on Friday wondered what the authors of the report intended to achieve by spreading falsehood against a serving lawmaker and former Governor who they noted has contributed immensely for the betterment of the society both at the state and national levels.
They recalled that Senator Jang had in April this year organized a town hall meeting with members of his constituency where he used the occasion to tell the people that he was fronting for some important and critical bills on the floor of the house including a bill for the re-reclamation of mining sites that litter Plateau North and other parts of the state, and a bill for the National Emergency Management seeking to re-settle the people that were hitherto displaced by the crises that rocked the state.
The supporters also quoted the senator as saying that he was working very closely with his colleagues in the National Assembly to see that Nigeria does not only come out of the present recession, but becomes one of the strongest economies of the world.
While urging Daily Trust newspapers to desist from attacking the Senator and other personalities in the state for no justifiable reasons which they noted had been the stock in trade of the newspaper in the past years, Senator Jang’s supporters also called on other media houses to always cross check their facts before publishing their stories.
