Following the unfortunate incident that occurred in some parts of Jos metropolis on Thursday 14th September, 2017, connected with developments in the southeast, the Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District Dr. Jonah David Jang hereby wishes to call for calm, especially now that the situation has been contained.
It is the fervent belief of the Senator at this critical moment in our nationhood, that it is still possible for all citizens of Nigeria to live peacefully anywhere in the country irrespective of tribe, religion, gender, or creed.
While suing for peace and the abandonment of any acts of retaliation, the Senator wishes to call on Plateau State Governor Bar. Simon Bako Lalong to do more in the areas of confidence building, restoration of trust, and the security of lives and properties belonging to all Nigerians living in the State.
The Senator is also pleased to commend security operatives in the capital city of Jos for the prompt and proactive measures they took to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation of the upheaval.
Consequently, the Senator wishes to use this medium to urge his constituents and indeed the people of Plateau State to remain peaceful in the pursuit of their daily endeavours, and shun all acts capable of causing causing violence, as the consequences of war are devastating and counterproductive to all parties involved.
