MIXED REACTIONS TRAIL PVC COLLECTIONS AHEAD OF PLATEAU LGA ELECTIONS

As the people of Plateau State await the government and the State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to fix a date for the conduct of Local Government Elections ,voters registration and collection of Permanent Voters Cards( PVCs) by the electorate have continued in the state in earnest

Correspondent JAMES ABBRAHAM who monitored the collection exercise reports that eligible voters have been trooping to various INEC offices in Jos metropolis including Jos North and Jos South Local Government Areas to either register or collect their PVCs in order to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming Local Government Elections

Some persons who collected their PVCs while speaking with JAY FM in Jos on Monday commended INEC for creating seven additional voters’ registration centres in the state as well as the transparent process put in place.

However, others who were unable to collect theirs expressed worry that their cards were not available for collection

When contacted, INEC Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity in Plateau State,Osaretin Imahiyereobo explained that only those cards that were registered before the 2015 general election were ready for collection.

He, however assured residents that INEC will soon release the PVCs for those who registered during the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration Exercise which was launched by the Electoral body in April this year
