RESIDENTS TACKLE LALONG OVER WORSENING INSECURITY IN PLATEAU,CALL FOR REVIEW OF STRATEGY

Some residents in Plateau State have tackled Governor Simon Lalong over the worsening attacks by gunmen in different communities of the state describing the situation as alarming and unacceptable.

Lalong had at different fora including during a recent Mid Term Thanksgiving organized by the Living Stone Assembly at Miango Road in Jos ,spoken on how his government is not resting on its oars to find lasting solution to the problem of attacks and killings in the state and vowed to bring the ugly situation to a stop

However, the attacks and killings have neither stopped nor waned down as no fewer than 40 people have been reportedly killed  and more than 100 houses destroyed by the gunmen in the past three weeks  alone, in some Local Government Areas including  Riyom, Barki Ladi and Bokkos among others.

The latest attack which occurred last Sunday at Lopandet,Du District in Jos South Local Government Area in which  12 people were confirmed dead and 11 others wounded  have been generating anxiety among residents in the state

A cross section of residents who spoke with JAY FM in Jos on Tuesday over the situation lamented that the situation on ground shows that whatever strategy which government has adopted to address the problem is simply not working and called on the governor to urgently review his strategy in the interest of the people.

They further lamented the attitude of the APC administration towards the series of killings and attacks occurring in Plateau communities and questioned the sincerity of government towards addressing the issues.

While condemning the cheapening of lives in the state   under the present administration, the residents urged the Governor to stop paying lip service to the issue of insecurity and go after those behind the killings as that is the only way to save the people from the current situation
