PDP kicks as Plateau Assembly extends tenure of Local Govt Management Committees

The People’s Democratic Party in Plateau State has kicked the decision of the members of the state House of Assembly to further extend the tenure of the Local Government Management Committee chairpersons by one month,

Correspondent JAMES ABRAHAM reports that the state lawmakers took the decision during their plenary on Tuesday citing insecurity in the state.

The extension followed the expiration of the one month extension earlier made by the House on August 4 this year.

It is the fifth time the State Assembly has extended the tenure of the council officials since they were appointed by Governor Simon Lalong in 2015

The PDP, however, decried the extension describing it as undemocratic and dictatorship in action by the Lalong-led All Progressives Congress administration in the state

State Publicity Secretary of the PDP,John Akans who spoke with journalists in Jos on the matter  expressed regrets over the continued absence of democracy at the grassroots in the state and called on the Governor to urgently conduct Local Government elections in line with the wishes and desires of the people
