PDP backs Buhari’s Minister’s call for a state of emergency in the state

The Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau State says it is in support of the call by the Minister of Sports,Solomon Dalung for a state of emergency to be declared in Plateau State and other troubled states in the country.
The move, according to the Minister ,will check the persistent killing of innocent people in the affected states.
He spoke with State House  correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Minister also condemned the renewed killing of people in some local government areas of Plateau in the past few days.
He maintained that it has become a matter of necessity for President Muhammadu Buhari to impose state of emergency in Plateau, Benue, Zamfara and Taraba to stop the killings.
He faulted those blaming the federal government over the persistent crisis in Plateau State.
According to him, Plateau state government and the local government authorities should be held responsible for the problem saying that the `collapse’ of local government administration in the state  had contributed immensely to the inability of the security personnel to arrest the problems.
Reacting to the Minister’s comment, State Publicity Secretary of the PDP,John Akans however, told journalists in Jos on Monday that although, the federal government, like the the state Government, can not absolve itself from the lingering crisis,he said it is a welcome development if government can declare a state of emergency only on the  killings and attacks on innocent civilians in the state to enable the atrocity on the people stop completely
He therefore called on the federal Government to heed the Minister’s advice and declare a state of Emergency in Plateau state and other troubled states so as to save the people from further violence.
