B’Haram: insurgents abandon gun trucks as fighter jets bombard hideouts

Fleeing Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province ( ISWAP) fighters have abandoned their gun trucks as the Nigerian Military continues Air bombardment of identified terrorists’ hideouts in Borno State.

Several of the insurgents were also killed in the operation conducted by troops of 212 Bn, Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole at Gajigana in Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State.

A cache of arms was also recovered by troops.

This is according to a statement by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche.

He said the unit had earlier received credible intelligence report on BHT convergence and advancement to attack troops’ location at Gajigana from Goni Usmanti Village in Nganzai Local Government Area.

He added that in response to the terrorists attack on ground troops, the Air Task Force, scrambled its Attack Aircraft and Helicopter Gunships to provide Close Air Support and engaged the BHT in exchange of fire with troops”.
