OPERATIVES of the Inspector-General Police Monitoring Unit have raided the hideout of a group of notorious armed robbers in Aluu community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, arresting 12 suspects in the operation.
The operatives also arrested five armed bandits suspected to have attacked the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority in Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA.
The suspects, who were paraded on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, were said to have committed dastardly crimes, including armed robbery, in Omuigwe and Omuike communities in the area.
The Rivers State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe, who is in charge of the IGP special monitoring team, said the unit was able to find out the hideout of the hoodlums based on intelligence, before it swung into action.
He identified weapons recovered from the hoodlums as one pump-action gun and a locally-made pistols.
