The member representing Igueben Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Justin Okonoboh, has been sworn in as the new deputy Speaker.
Okonoboh took his oath of office at 10:06 AM on Tuesday. Recall that the Edo State House of Assembly impeached its Deputy Speaker Tiger Edoror on Monday.
Edoror’s impeachment followed a motion moved by a member representing Oredo East Constituency, Osaigboyo Oyoha, alleging financial misappropriation, anti-party activities and corruption against the former Deputy Speaker.
His impeachment, however, led to a rowdy session as some of his loyalists tried to resist the action.
When calm was returned, the impeached Deputy Speaker, a member representing Owan East Constituency, Folly Ogedengbe, and another member representing Etsako West constituency, Gani Audu, were suspended for three months.
