Fallout of Plateau council poll: Langtang youth insist rightful person to be sworn-in as Council chairman

Hundreds of angry youths in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday staged a protest and insisted that the rightful person who won the election in the council area must be sworn in as Chairman and not the candidate who they claim lost the election

They said they were  ready to protect their votes and that no person will subvert the will of the people and be allowed to go Scot free.

It would be recalled that Governor Simon Lalong had at the week end, sworn-in Amos Nanloh of the APC as Chairman of Langtang North.

The APC candidate was declared winner by PLASIEC after a re-run election held in the council area where an  election  was earlier declared inconclusive during the main election conducted penultimate week

The youth who were not happy with the turn out of events locked down Langtang North  Secretariat Complex to protest what they termed the greatest electoral fraud and conspiracy between the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) and the Lalong led APC administration in the State.

According to them, elections were conducted and PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Joshua Laven Ubandoma and Councillorship Candidates won in majority of the Wards but to their amazement, the returning officer to the Local Government disappeared without finalizing the collation of the result and announcing the winners only to appear in Jos ,the State Capital with doctored results and announced APC Candidate who got less votes and Councillorship Candidates as the winners.

Describing the actions of PLASIEC and the State government as illegal and capable of causing  security breach in the State, Stephen Danfa, one of the youth leaders who led the protest said they would not allow any form of injustice and immunity in their Local Government and vowed that the youth would  continue to keep vigil at the council Secretariat until the right thing is done

It was learnt that the newly sworn in Council chairman is yet to resume work at the council Secretariat.
