Benue considering state security outfit – Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Monday said his state was planning a security outfit similar to Amotekun, the South-West regional outfit, to combat security challenges confronting the state.

Ortom in an interview with journalists in Makurdi, lamented the security challenges in the state which he said ranged from internal crisis mostly associated with land dispute and herdsmen invasion which he described as external challenge.

He noted that the state is faced with the challengeof inter-communal clashes all over the place because the rainy season is gradually setting in and preparation for the farming season has also started.

According to the governor, there is a need for the state to provide a security outfit to compliment the conventional security agencies in the state.
