The Chairman Bassa Local Government of Plateau state, Chindo Gona, has described as painful the series of gunmen attacks and killings in the state.
Jay FM reports that in Bassa Council Area alone, more than twenty persons have been killed in the past one month by gunmen who attacked several communities and also destroyed their properties.
The Council Chairman spoke when he visited the paramount ruler of Irigwe nation in the Council Area, Rev. Ronke Aka to condole with him at his palace over the killings in his chiefdom
Gona expressed optimism that the killings would soon come to an end.
He, however, insisted that the government must adopt quick responses to achieve the objective
In a remark, the paramount who also lamented the frequent attacks by gunmen in his domain leading to loss of lives and destruction of properties also urged the government to live up to its responsibilities of protecting lives and property of the citizens.
The paramount ruler also called on the government to come to the aide of the people to enable live their normal lives
