Abia Government Bans motorcycle in Aba and Umuahia Metropolis

The Abia State Governor Alex Otti has directed the ban on the operation of commercial motorcyclists better known as okada within the Umuahia and Aba metropolis.
According to Governor Otti’s Chief Press Secretary Kazie Uko, this directive takes effect immediately.
Security agencies have also been directed to arrest any individual caught violating this order, for possible prosecution.
In the northwestern part of the country, Armed bandits have attacked the headquarters of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one person and abducted 7 others.
A resident of Bungudu town, Ishaq Bungudu said the armed bandits stormed the town with deadly weapons, shooting sporadically and killed one person in the process.
According to him, 7 other persons were abducted, including the son of the Emir of Bungudu, Abdulrahman Hassan and the Former State Programme Officer of International Fund for Agricultural Development Abubakar Bungudu.
Bungudu lamented the incessant attacks on the local government headquarters by the armed bandits, despite being the closest local government to the state capital Gusau.
The Federal Road Safety Corps has apprehended 162,834 traffic offenders nationwide from January to June, 2023.
The corps spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, disclosed this to journalists, noting that the traffic offenders were arrested for committing various offences.
Meanwhile, the FRSC spokesman also disclosed that no fewer than 4000 people were killed as a result of road traffic crashes between January and June across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory as he noted that an investigation by the FRSC that a lot of the crashes involved untrained and inexperienced drivers.
