The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has condemned the outcome of the February 25, 2023 Presidential Election, won by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
The group also faults the Independent National Electoral Commission on the conduct of the election, saying the commission did not comply with electoral guidelines.
This was contained in a communique issued after the general meeting of the group and made available to journalists by the Secretary General of the association, Mr. Sola Ebiseni, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Examining some legal concerns in the news, the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to directly and electronically upload from the polling units to the IREV, the results of the forthcoming, governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the State.
Justice Peter Lifu made the order while delivering judgment on a suit filed by the Labor Party and 41 others, in which they sought an order of mandamus to compel INEC to obey the Electoral Act and its guidelines for the conduct of the elections.
The judge held that the court had the jurisdiction to entertain the suit because it was commenced in accordance with the provisions of the law.
