The Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria is faulting the call for the unconditional release of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The leader of the community, Musa Saidu, made this position known in a statement in Abuja today, Tuesday, May 2nd 2023.
President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, had on Sunday urged Buhari to release Kanu before the end of his tenure.
But Saidu says the call was wrong, saying that the IPOB leader cannot be released by presidential order because he was facing trial in the law Court.
Saidu however, advises Ohanaeze to visit the victims of IPOB attacks in the South East who were mainly settlers toward finding solutions to the problem.
