ASUU Threatens Strike, gives Federal Government Two Weeks Ultimatum

Written by on May 16, 2024

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has threatened to strike after two weeks if the President Bola Tinubu administration fails to pay public university lecturers their withheld salaries.

ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke describes as unfair, the Federal Government’s payment of only four months of lecturers 2022 withheld salaries as the Government holds on to that of three-and-half months.

Osodeke says ASUU members must be fully paid for the entire period of the industrial action in 2022, submitting that the Tinubu administration has not done lecturers any favours by clearing four of their about eight months’ withheld salaries.
