President Muhammadu has conferred the national honours of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, GCFR, and Grand commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, on the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima.
The investiture was carried out at an ongoing ceremony inside the state house conference center Abuja, earlier today.
The ceremony is part of activities that would culminate in the swearing-in ceremony of the new president in what is the country’s seventh consecutive democratic transition.
President Buhari also handed over the transition documents to the incoming President, Bola Tinubu, GCFR.
Now, the President-elect, Bola Tinubu has hailed the courage of President Muhammadu Buhari to take tough decisions his predecessors avoided during his time in office.
Citing the President’s recognition of June 12, as democracy day to make for the wrongful annulment of Late MKO Abiola’s victory in the election of 1993, Tinubu says history will remember the president kindly
