Amid controversies, award-winning author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has faulted Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka for describing Labour Party’s vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed’s comment on the general elections as fascist.
In an interview, Chimamanda says she has a lot of respect for Soyinka, but strongly disagrees with his take on Baba-Ahmed’s comment.
She says Baba Ahmed made a strongly felt point about the election and does not see any reason why his interview would have been termed fascist.
Recall Soyinka had slammed the Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate’s call to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chief Justice not to swear-in Bola Tinubu, the president-elect.
Soyinka, in his reaction, described the statement as unacceptable noting that it alienates the people adding that it is a fascistic language.
