Court orders status quo in Superfine Furniture Vs Yakubu Jang

Written by on July 9, 2024

The Magistrate Court in Abattoir, Jos, has adjourned the case between Superfine Furniture Nigeria Limited and Mr. Yakubu Chuwang Jang until August 5, 2024.

Superfine Furniture had accused Mr. Jang of criminal intimidation, harassment, and trespassing on a two-hectare parcel of land near the old airport road in Jos.

Mr. Jang pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding judge, Justice Tamwakat, ordered both parties to maintain the status quo regarding the disputed land until the case is resolved.

The judge also granted Mr. Jang bail on liberal terms, requiring a surety with a valid means of national identification, two recent passport photographs, and a bail bond of two million naira.

Dr. Christopher Eichie, counsel to the defendant, in this instance Yakubu Jang, expresses satisfaction with the court’s decision, stating that the attempt to criminalize a civil matter had failed like a pack of carts.

He vows to challenge any further attempts to do so through the instrumentality of the law.
