DSS storm EFCC Lagos office, blocks officers’ access

The Department of State Security have stormed the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from gaining access to their office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to sources in both agencies, there has been an ongoing rivalry between the DSS and the EFCC over the ownership of the building.

It was also gathered that the DSS operatives stormed the office around 7:00 am today Tuesday, May 30th 2023, and refused to leave despite dialogue between operatives of both agencies.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Services has refuted reports that its personnel denied operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission access to its office in Lagos.

The spokesperson for the Service, Peter Afunanya says the DSS was occupying its own facility where it was carrying out an operation.

He disclosed this in a WhatsApp message to journalists today.

He therefore, debunked claims that there is a rivalry between his agency and the EFCC.

There is apprehension in Oghior community of Udu Council Area of Delta State as suspected illegal oil bunkers attacked two operational vehicles of security operatives drafted from Ovwian Police Division in a gun duel following reports of oil thieves.

The attack was confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe in a text message sent to newsmen.

The police Image maker also confirmed the arrest of two suspects who would be charged to court.
