gunmen have attacked the Nkporo Divisional Police Headquarters, in the Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, and carted away weapons from the police station.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the police division in three Toyota Sienna vehicles, attacked policemen on duty, broke into the divisional armoury, and stole one AK-47 riffle with 30 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspects were said to have also made away with two riot gunners and yet-to-be ascertained quantity of ammunition.
It was learnt that the policemen who sustained varying degrees of injury during the invasion, were rushed to a nearby hospital where they had been receiving medical attention.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, in a press statement says the gunmen shot indiscriminately when they attacked the police station.
Likewise, gunmen have killed the traditional ruler of Umuezekoha community, Eze Ewa, during an invasion of his residence in the Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Until his death night, Ewa was the Chairman of the Ezza North Traditional Rulers Council in the state.
The Executive Governor of the state, Dave Umahi, who confirmed the development says he had directed security agents to spare no resources in unmasking the killers of the monarch.
Describing the death of the monarch as a callous and barbaric act, Umahi, during a press conference at the New Government House, Abakaliki, says the deceased son informed him of the incident while speaking from his hideout.
