IGP deploys DIGs to Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo

The governorship elections to be held on November 11 in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has deployed three Deputy Inspectors General of Police, DIGs, to oversee the security arrangements and ensure the elections run smoothly in the respective states.
They are the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Force Intelligence, DIG Habu Sani who is deployed to Kogi State; DIG Daniel Sokari-Pedro in charge of the Department of Information and Communication Technology deployed to Bayelsa State and DIG Frank Mba, DIG Department of Training and Development, who is deployed to oversee elections in Imo State;
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi made this known while briefing on police preparation in Abuja.
He states that the IGP also ordered the deployment of additional 220 operational vehicles to the three states while 5 Police helicopters and over 15 gunboats are to be deployed for aerial patrols and waterways and riverine areas.
Sticking with election matters this hour, former President Goodluck Jonathan has backed Governor Douye Diri’s bid for a second tenure in the upcoming Bayelsa State governorship election on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, he says Diri should be encouraged to complete a second term in office because of the stability of the state.
Jonathan spoke when members of the PDP Bayelsa National Governorship Campaign Council alongside governors, former governors of the party and National Assembly members and other stakeholders paid him a visit at his Yenagoa residence.
The party leaders visited the state for the grand finale of Diri’s re-election campaign rally.
