Written by on August 23, 2021

Following the rising spate of insecurity in Plateau state which has led to the displacement of some residents in Bassa local government area, over 180 families in Miango community have received foodstuffs and other relief materials through #TogetherWithJebbu; a cooperative social responsibility of the Jebbu Miango Reads on Sunday.

According to one of the team members, Nenkinan Deshi, ‘each family got 8 measures of maize, about 4 measures of beans and 2 liters of Palm Oil. We also shared a truckload and more of clothes and shoes’.

JAY FM NEWS learned that these donations were a product of crowdfunding through social media and word-of-mouth for over three weeks. Mr. Deshi extended his gratitude to all the donors describing them as ‘humanitarians with a heart for the people’.

‘Considering the extent of the devastation of these communities, this is but a drop in an ocean. We are still open to donations and hope to visit them again.’, he said.

More than 70 people have been killed between July and August in a series of attacks within the Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area with over 3,000 houses have been burnt and farmlands destroyed with an estimated population of 30,000 persons

All donations can be made to; Balpolam Danladi Idi 0162784586, Gurranty Trust Bank.
