WHY YOU NEED A VISION BOARD IN 2021(Get your shit together)

If you have never heard of vision boards, then I suspect you’ve been living under a rock for the last 20-30 years.  I know January is already over but it’s never late to start to visualize how you want the year to end and the things you want to come to life. The previous year was nothing to write home about but we can change the narrative. If you think a vision board is a sham and its one of those things we soro soke generation came up with, then the joke is on you my friend.

Stop rollinhg your eyes and hear me out .

Lately, I have been waiting to focus more on my goals so I filled out a goal sheet. Then over the weekend, I made a vision board. I create vision boards every season of change in my life, or when I want to start making or seeing changes.  Just a little guide to keep the mind focused. The pandemic and the lock down had fun with majority of us. Am I right? If you are looking for a positive way to start a new journey and focus on your goals, then this will help you decide if a vision board is right for you.

Without wasting your time, let’s get right into it. We cannot start talking about why you need one when you hell don’t know what it is.

 WHAT IS A VISION BOARD?

Before we start grabbing one or two things and before I start talking way too much, a vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on what truly matters to you. Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. It is a collage of items that are meant to kick start your imagination and helps you visualize those goals.  They really work and the reason why is very simple. What’s the point of making a vision board? Simply put, we humans tend to be very busy species and constantly bombarded by distractions. Creating and using a vision boards serves several purposes. Think of it like a pintrest board (you know what that is right?) but in the real world. sometimes you can pin photos , magazines , cut-outs , keepsakes and other bits of awesomeness to in order to keep you inspired and motivated towards something you want to do, to be, to have , or to otherwise manifest. When you were little you had pictures of celebrities hanged on your wall, a picture of a shoe you loved so much and wanted to own etc.I know you did not know you were creating a vision board. (hahahhaha)

So make 2021 the year of goal follow through by creating a vision board to give you a clear picture of where you want to get to.

Reasons why you need to create a vision board

  1. A vision board creates an emotional connection that motivates you.

Forget attraction, a vision board motivates the crap out of you. Well, it can if it’s done right. This works especially well if you make your vision board more than just pictures. Make it also about the emotions connected with your vision and the sensory experience of it all. A vision board is only as beneficial as the work you’re willing to put into it, so dig in and make it as thorough, exciting, and detailed as possible.

  1. Vision boards make you think about what you really want.

Creating a vision board forces you to make the time to sit and REALLY think about what it is you want from life.I’m sure you think about the things you want a lot, but do you really focus on them? Do you document them anywhere outside of your head?A vision board forces you to go beyond casual thinking and focus on your goals and aspirations.

  1. Vision boards provide you with a daily visual reminder of your dreams and goals.

The reason that vision boards work so great is because you visually see them every day. When you see something that inspires you on a daily basis, you stay on track. Even when you face setbacks, that vision board will still be there ready to motivate you all over again.

  1. Vision boards are fun.

A vision board is a fun, risk-free, and stress-free way to unload your deepest, rawest number of thoughts and inspiration  without scrutinizing them. You don’t have to over organize, analyze, or beautify your board. Just have fun and put it together. Change it up. Do what feels right to you. It doesn’t have to be organized or pretty. It just has to inspire you.

Do Vision Boards Work?

As I have mentioned above, vision boards do work because they take the thoughts and dreams in your head and turn them into something real and tangible. BUT (yeah a big but) they only work for you if you are prepared to work with them. What does this mean? You have to engage with your vision board and use it to guide your actions as you progress toward making your goals a reality. Simply making a vision board and storing it away in a cupboard, only looking at it briefly every few weeks or months won’t get you anywhere. No lies it will just another piece of document occupying space in your room.I bet you don’t want to have things piled up in your room. As with most things in life, you get out what you put in. The power of a vision board comes in its ability to motivate you to do the work that is required to make the things you put on it a reality. If you believe in the law of attraction, a vision board will help you to manifest. It will guide your mind’s eye toward the things you want and help you to imagine your life matching the life you have created on your board.
