It is something remarkable for a public officer in Nigeria to bow out of active service with unblemished records after a career that lasted for over three decades while leaving behind a legacy of courage, competence, expertise, knowledge, fairness and uprightness.

But that was practically the story of Justice Christine Dabup of the Plateau State High Court who, a few days ago, retired from active service as a judge at the age of 65.

Throughout her career in the judiciary which saw her serving in different capacities including Election Tribunal in Kwara, Ekiti, Rivers and the Kogi States as well as throughout the period she served as a judge in charge of Corruption cases, her records were not tainted with any form of scandals.

Fondly Known as the 9 am Judge for her promptness in court, her courage in delivering sound judgements regardless of those involved also stood her out among her peers .

There are reports that under her as a judge, those who approached her court were sure to get justice .

This is certainly a clear message to judges who are used to perverting the course of justice in the state and other part of the country for selfish gains using their privileged positions.

Under her as a judge ,Lawyers were said to be equally encouraged to always show good example in the practice of their profession

Retired Justice Christine Dabup’s refusal to tamper with her age despite her youthful look at 65 is also a lesson that should be learnt by public officers who are currently depriving others of their opportunities to contribute their own quota by fraudulently elongating their career through age falsification .

At a well attended valedictory session to mark her formal exit from the bench which coincided with her 65th birthday,The chief Judge of Plateau state, Honorable David mann described retired Justice Christine Dabup as an honest, sincere and humble personality who abhorred frivolities and upheld justice in the course of her service with the Plateau state judiciary.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria,Barrister Pius Akubo, applauded the retired Justice for all that she did to project the judiciary in positive image describing her as a virtuous woman who did her best to serve the course of humanity

As the people celebrate the exit of justice Christine Dabup in the Plateau state judiciary and bid her farewell in future endeavours, good health, long life and prosperity , all that is required is to sustain and deepen the enduring qualities and legacies left behind by the retired Justice in the state judiciary

This will ,no doubts ,enable Plateau state and indeed Nigeria to blossom and fulfil the dreams of having a just and equitable society
