Jonathan reveals his cabinet members feared being jailed by Buhari

Written by on May 30, 2023

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is saying that members of his cabinet feared being jailed when the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, won election in 2015.

Jonathan, while speaking in an interview, says some of his cabinet members even felt he would run away, but he stayed in the country.

The former president says the tense atmosphere his team faced during the transition period in 2015 was not faced by the outgone government of Buhari.

Jonathan adds that it was important for politicians to be more interested in the country than themselves, saying without the country, there would be no president.

As that is unfolding, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, and the perceived winner of the February 25, 2023, Presidential election, Peter Obi, says it is time for Nigerians to re-evaluate their collective assumptions as a nation.

He also says he is on the same page with Nigerians who reject the present shameful conditions of the country but reaffirms hope that a better Nigeria is possible.

Obi said this in a statement to mark May 29, 2023 Presidential inauguration, held in Abuja.

He described the occasion as a time for deep reflection as well as a time to pin down the causes of Nigeria’s missed opportunities and disappointments.
