The Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq has led the way as more governors are rolling out plans to give succour to workers and others feeling the pinch of petrol subsidy removal.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi have also announced their plans.
So far,AbdulRazaq and Abiodun have approved a payment of N10,000 to state workers and Uzodimma has okayed the sale of food items at reduced prices to citizens with the state planning to increase the fleet of its mass transit buses.
This follows the directive of the National Economic Council,NEC last week, mandating governors to take charge of giving palliatives and prepare a register of the poor to facilitate conditional cash transfers.
