Written by on August 7, 2023

The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has ordered the cultivation of over 900 hectares of farmland across three Local Government Areas of the state in a move to tackle the lingering crisis in the area.

In the last three months, more than 300 persons had been killed in the Mangu Local Government Area and neighbouring communities of the state following a series of attacks by gunmen.

Speaking with journalists after the official flag-off of the farming intervention at LigitLubang Community, the Managing Director of the Agricultural Services and Training Center in the state, Dr. Susan Bentu, says the governor directed the intervention to cover communities affected by the attacks and farm destruction.

On his part, the Deputy Commander Head of Agro Rangers NSCDC Plateau State Command Commandant Olushola Bakenne assures the farmers of his personnel’s commitment to provide adequate security to farmers and their investment.

The Mwagahvul Development Association Chairman Bungah district Yabak Retkat who represented the District head Da Danladi Denan decried that bandits terrorize farmers, graze in their farmlands and prevent them from contributing to the economy.
