There was mild drama on Wednesday, in Taraba as Jethro Yakubu, the state’s new commissioner of co-operatives and poverty alleviation, assumed his role under a tree.
Daily Trust reports that the permanent secretary in the ministry, Jibrin Na Wukari, said for nearly six months the staff have been working under the tree.
Wukari, who made the revelation while handing over to the new commissioner lamented over the deplorable environment.
According to him, it is sad for a ministry that is saddled with the responsibility of alleviating poverty to be operating in such a place.
Vanguard also reports that offices in the ministry, as well as other structures were destroyed during the #EndSARS protest last year.
This situation has forced staff in the affected offices to work under the trees.
