Niger boat mishap leaves at least 26 persons Dead

Tragedy struck in Niger yesterday after a boat capsized in the Mokwa Local Government area of the state.
The exact number of people on-board the boat and the cause of the accident was reportedly a head-on collision with a tree.
The Chairman of Mokwa Local Government, Jibrim Muregi, who says rescue efforts are ongoing and further confirmed that 21 dead bodies were recovered, notes that three community members of Gbajibo, Ekwa, and Yankeiade were also affected.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, pegged the casualty figure ast 13.
