NLC and TUC to begin nationwide strike from November 14

The leadership of the Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, has declared a total nationwide strike effective next Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

The leadership of the two union reached the resolution after an extraordinary National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

The two major labor unions say nationwide mobilization of members and allies have begun immediately.

The action by the Organized Labor followed the brutalization of NLC National President, Joe Ajaero, last week in Imo State.

 TUC President, Comrade Festus Osifo who read the communique says Ajaero was undeserving of a fate that has befallen him.

Also, the leadership of the NLC and the TUC has ordered an immediate shutdown of flights and power supply in Imo State.

Labor is accusing the Governor Hope Uzodimma administration of non-compliance with national minimum wage, intimidation and harassment of trade union leaders, use of violence and thuggery, amongst others.
