Plateau Assembly passes 2024 appropriation budget

To state legislative matters, members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have passed the 2024 appropriation budget from N295 billion to N314 billion.
The budget was passed after the MDAs defended their proposals for 2024 and report submitted by the Chairman on budget Appropriation bill, Hon Danjuma Azi to the House during plenary in Jos.
Also, during plenary presided by the speaker Rt Hon Moses Sule, the House approved the 2023 supplementary budget of N27 billion and approved N1 billion naira to enable the Plateau State Universal Basic education board, SUBEB, to access funding from UBEC so that the state government can pay the counterpart funding to access the same UBEC.
Similarly, a motion was moved by the majority leader Hon Ishaku Maren on the need to repair and enact the Plateau state Energy Cooperation Law 2023, and the creation of Plateau state Electricity Market Law seconded by the minority leader Hon Gabriel Dewan
Speaking to Jayfm after plenary the deputy Chairman House committee on Information, Hon Timothy Dantong said the increase in the budget became necessary to meet the realities of the people of Plateau state.
