Plateau PDP charges CJN to probe APC’s judiciary control claim

Written by on November 22, 2023

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is asking the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, to rise up and defend the integrity of the judiciary by setting up a judicial panel of inquiry to probe the public boast by leaders of All Progressives Congress, APC, that the party has willing persons within the judiciary to do its bidding on election cases.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, who made the call in Abuja says Nigerians were appalled by such boastings as also contained in a viral video by an APC leader, Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State.

Ologunagba further says the statement by Gagdi further confirms the suspicion in the public domain that the APC has set up a special team, comprising two former governors to ensure the inducement of certain judicial officers to deliver judgments against the PDP.

He says such judgements as being witnessed in the series of biased judgments by the Plateau State Election Appeal Court Panel vindicate the PDP.

You’ll recall that the acting National Chairman of the Party, Umar Damagun had raised the alarm on attempts to rob the party of its victories.

I’m solidly behind this call, if not the people will soon lose confidence in the judicial system. People now are bitterly complaining that the judiciary should cast votes instead of votes from polling units.
