As the tension raised by the killing of two youths by gunmen in Yelwa- Zangam community ,Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau is yet to settle, residents of the community have asked the state Governor ,Simon Lalong to urgently fulfil his promise to establish a police station in the locality.
A cross section of the residents spoke with Jay FM on Wednesday after gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked a mining site in the community killing two youths on the spot.
It was learnt that the incident happened on Tuesday morning after some Fulani people went to a school in the community to graze with their cows but were driven away by the vigilante who told them that they don’t allow cows to graze there.
The residents who condemned the killing of the youths said they believed that establishing a police station in the area will curtail the security challenge in the community.
Jay FM recalls that while addressing residents of the Yelwa- Zangam community in August last year during a visit after gunmen killed over thirty villagers, Governor Simon Lalong had promised to establish a police station in the community to forestall a further attack on the people but the governor has yet to fulfill his promise
