The suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has arrived at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State
The embattled CBN boss arrived at the court premises this morning to stand trial on two counts of possessing a single-barrel shotgun without a license.
Reports have it that the Department of State Services had on July 13, 2023 filed a two-count of illegal processions of firearm and ammunition against the suspended CBN governor.
Emefiele, has however pleaded not guilty to the two counts at his arraignment before the court.
With more reports on latest developments on the case, the Federal High Court, Lagos has rejected the Federal Government’s claim that it did not receive a copy of the bail application filed by the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, in his alleged gun possession trial.
In a short ruling on the issue, Justice Nicholas Oweibo holds that there is evidence that the government had been served.
The bail application is being filed by Emefiele’s lawyers led by Joseph Dauda SAN, asking the court to hear the application on self recognizance, noting that Emefiele has fulfilled all the conditions necessary to make the application set for hearing.
