The Much-anticipated Local Government Election has been held in Plateau State over the week end

Jay FM reports that the excercise was marred by voters’ apathy and insufficient election materials.
This is as many stakeholders including a former governor of the state, Jonah Jang, described the exclusion of the Peoples Democratic Party from the election as shameful and a mockery of democracy.
But the State Governor, Simon Lalong, after voting in Ajikamai, Shendam Local Government Area, said the local government election would consolidate peace in the state.
Lalong also praised voters in his polling unit for their peaceful conduct and large turnout to elect their chairman and councillors.
Chairman of the State Electoral Commission, Fabian Ntung who declared the results after the election said the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress won all the chairmanship seats as well as the Counsellorship seats across the 17 LGAs and 325 wards in the state.
The elected council officials, according to a statement by Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Macham Makut are expected to be sworn in today
