President Bola Tinubu has committed to a transparent working relationship with the legislature, the 10th National Assembly under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
Tinubu made the pledge while congratulating the freshly elected senate president and speaker in a personal statement.
Addressing the entire membership of the National Assembly, the President says, having been called upon and accepted the responsibility to diligently and faithfully serve the country by virtue of the oath they took, it is time to get on and move swiftly with the business of governance.
After clinching an unprecedented landslide victory, the newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has reiterated that the 10th assembly would be no rubber stamp.
The speaker revealed this to State House correspondents in Abuja after meeting with President Bola Tinubu in his office.
Abbas notes that members of the house expressed their votes across party lines, contrary to what he describes as conversations and media propaganda.
He further promised that the 10th assembly would harmonise with the executive to improve efficiency or challenge policies where necessary towards the development of the country.
