Unknown Mob Attacks Senator Nora Dadu’ut and 14 Journalists in Quaan Pang, Burns Down NUJ Vehicle

Prof. Nora Ladi Dadu’ut, the senator representing Plateau South, her convoy and 14 journalists narrowly escaped death today after an unidentified mob attacked them in Namu, Quaan Pan local government of Plateau state.

This happened shortly after Senator Dadu’ut commissioned an ICT Centre and an e-Library in the community. According to reports, a vehicle belonging to the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau state council and the senator’s pilot vehicle were burnt in the attack.

The unidentified mob, mostly made of youths stated that their rage will be calm only when the senator is able to secure the release of some persons who were recently kidnapped in Namu community.

Troops of the Operation Safe Haven were quickly alerted to calm the situation.

Other top government functionaries who were caught in the mayhem included the state’s commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Musa Gyang and the Director-General of Plateau state ICT Development Agency, Mr David Daser. Both reportedly escaped unhurt.

Following the incident, the authorities of Qua’an-Pan Local Government immediately announced an indefinite dusk-to-dawn curfew in Namu town and environs in a statement on Thursday evening.
