A message sent multiple times on Whatsapp urging Nigerians to apply for ₦500m as a grant with the claim that the Federal Government in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is giving out 15,000 Naira per individual by applying through this link “https://bit.ly/FG-CBN-N500m-Grant”.

Since the user repeatedly shared the information on the group chat. And with the advent of the current trend of fraudulent schemes in the digital space, Dubawa opted to check the authenticity of this claim. 

Verification

Domainbigdata verification revealed that the IP address (67.199.248.11)  which is the unique string of characters that identifies each computer using the Internet Protocol to communicate over a network, is an open proxy used by hackers.

The website has been reported 81 times for different attacks such as phishing web spam, fraud orders,  email spam, and many other crimes.
